My entire frame rail, Pass-side sidewall, really everything within 12" of the power steering pump is covered with a fine film of PS (er, AT) fluid. It is almost as if if was misted onto there somehow over the years. My hose ends were very sludgy and obviously leaking but I can't see how a leaky hose could have produced such uniform coverage all over the place. I was thinking maybe somehow with pulleys spinning and fans blowing that the fluid was, in effect, sprayed onto all these surfaces resulting in the mess I now have. From where, I don't know, BUT maybe something similar could be going to with yours too. I'm putting these replacement hoses on everywhere in my car so I guess I'll know soon enough whether it is a bad idea or not.
